BrooklynBrooklyn,
New York 2003.   The project proposes
a singular wall that acts not as a divider, but instead as an organizing element,
that defines the master bedroom, bedroom for the daughter, a library, office
area for him that doubles as buffet table, and work/make up area for her. A
new floor plate raises the master bedroom area and folds up to double as a division
wall for the two bedrooms and as furniture-- the head board for the bed. Transluscent/reflective
surfaces simultaneously obscure vision and help to dematerialize areas. The
common shared elements of the project (book shelves, desk areas, light wall,
storage) redraw the traditional boundaries and limits of rooms.
