F93Shanksville, Pennsylvania 2004. Project entry
for the Flight 93 Memorial Competion. 37 chambers are organized around the crash
site/burial ground for each of the victims of United Flight 93. These
chambers are conceived as small family chapels to humanize the personal loss
of the tragic event of 9-11. Each chapel is dedicated by family and friends
with personal belongings and oral recordings that recount
a personal story of the individual victims to visitors. Each family
is given a key to access the burial ground through a pivoting door at one end
of the memorial. Perennials cover the grounds that celebrate in its continual
annual renewal of life, the living memory of the victims.
